Dan Warner, a former primary teacher and ICT advisor, has been working on a resource that allows children to create and invent using robotics. The result is Ohbot, an ICT Innovator of the Year finalist in the BETT awards 2016. Ohbot is now being used to engage children in programming for a real world purpose in over 300 schools in 15 countries.

To celebrate the release of a new version of Ohbot, the excitingly named version 2.1, Dan is looking for a school to host a near space launch from their grounds. We will launch an Ohbot over 30km up into the stratosphere using an enormous helium filled balloon. During its journey it will react to the experience it senses, perhaps its teeth will chatter with cold or it will scream when it senses free fall after the balloon bursts. Ohbot's behaviour during the flight will be programmed by children, we designed Ohbot to enable children to easily create and invent new roles for human like robots. It will be the first British humanoid robot in space.

If you would like to host the launch please visit www.ohbot.space for details about how to make an application. There is no charge to the school for the launch.

Deadline for applications is 21st October 2016. The flight will take place in November 2016. I'm happy to answer any questions on 07870122959 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
